You have a full-time job. Whether you are presently earning an income or not, God has given you a detailed job description: You are an ambassador for Christ (See 2Corinthians 5:20).

Most would consider ambassadorship a prestigious position. An ambassador represents his or her country of origin in a foreign land. They are delegated authority to articulate governmental policies to heads of state and citizens of the country to whom they have been sent. They seek to promote the agenda, preserve the interests and intelligibly represent the ideals and customs of their homeland. They are honored in countries where their homeland is honored. They are despised in countries where it is not. They must be prepared for hostilities and risk the consequences of war. Ambassadorship requires personal assuredness, intelligence, stability and courage; a willingness to stand fast on behalf of their government and suffer the consequences.

An ambassador is responsible for accurately representing the character, customs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures of their homeland. He or she has no authority to set policies, only to represent and implement them. He or she is to seek terms of reconciliation and peace without compromising the values of their government. In order to do this, the ambassador must be thoroughly familiar with those he or she is called to represent.

Those who have experienced new birth through the Spirit, (those made alive to God through faith in person and work of Jesus Christ) are immediately constituted as citizens of heaven (Philippians 3:20) and appointed as ambassadors for Christ. In order to be effective, they must become thoroughly familiar with the government of God. The gospel of Jesus Christ makes possible what would otherwise be impossible - the promotion of reconciliation in a world that is hostile, indifferent, rebellious, and at war with God.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us."

Are you thoroughly familiar with God's proposed peace settlement with this planet? He has appointed YOU to announce the good news - the only terms that will bring lasting peace to the people of the earth. God, though offended by our sin, has provided a way to reconcile the world to Himself by sending His Son to identify with all the crimes in the history of this hostile planet. He takes the capital punishment its citizens deserve on His own body through crucifixion and thereby fully compensate the demands of His own justice. Our sinful history in Adam is concluded and erased. Our inheritance from the old order of things, the government of sin, is passed away from God's point of view. Our history is now rewritten in Christ, the righteousness of God. The guilty sinner is now constituted by God as a righteous saint. Citizens of the rebellious planet can be justly acquitted of all guilt before God by putting their trust in God's ultimate sacrifice - Jesus' sin payment on the Cross. That God accepted this payment is verified by the fact that He raised Him from the dead, according to His prophecies of full redemption. The ambassador comes not to bring a scolding, or to say that God is counting men's sins against them- but to bring an honest solution, a loving entreaty: BE RECONCILED TO GOD through faith in the gospel.

"We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." (2Corinthians 5:17-21 NIV).

Are you ready to RE-PRESENT Christ and His gospel to your world today?
