The reconstitution of Israel in May of 1948 is not only an historical exception, it is a phenomenal vindication of Biblical prophesy. After 2,500 years without self-government and 1,800 years of dispersion throughout the globe, the comeback of this nation was unparalleled in history. When the Jews numbered less than 100,000, they were captives of the Babylonians who far outnumbered them and ruled the world. While other nations have blended into new ones or become extinct, the Jewish people have been preserved. In Mark Twain's words, "All things are mortal but the Jew; all other forces pass, but he remains." God does not forget His promises. He has pledged to demonstrate His faithfulness to the seed of Abraham, the children of Israel. He is true to His Word: "I the LORD do not change. So you, O descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed." "For the Lord's portion is his people, Jacob his allotted inheritance." (Malachi 3:6; Deuteronomy 32:9).

Today the nation of Israel, a country about the size of the state of New Jersey, dominates world news. While not everything Israel does is approved of by God, it is He who is behind the nation's comeback. He has purposes and promises yet to fulfill, and His purposes will not be thwarted. Their comeback will be threatened and nearly thwarted by a coming world dictator, but then they will be saved by the Messiah and will enter into a new covenant of spiritual renewal with Him. Only then will Jerusalem have her peace. Only then will her comeback be complete. Israel will once again face the promised Messiah, Jesus Christ (Ezekiel 36:24-38; 11:17-20; Zechariah 12:10).

As God pledges to fulfill His promise to Israel, so He will keep His promise to you. He is at work restoring His rule to a lost and rebellious human race. Just as God will be glorified in His comeback nation of Israel, so He will be glorified in your comeback. We can enter into the new covenant relationship described in the Bible by faith today!

"The time is coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them," declares the LORD. "This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." (Jeremiah 31:31-34).

Jesus inaugurated this covenant with his first coming. By transferring our trust to Him, we become beneficiaries of His covenant, receiving:

  1. The gift of His Holy Spirit to empower us to live godly lives.
  2. Eternal (deathless) spiritual life and power.
  3. Intuitive knowledge of the Lord.
  4. The forgiveness of sins.

He is ready to sponsor your comeback on the terms of a covenant. As a bride takes her husband and is legally bound to Him, so we are to take Christ as He is, on His terms - as our personal Lord and Savior.
