Discipleship

*DISCIPLESHIP*

from Latin discipulus, pupil, from discere, to learn;

A disciple is a person who sets out to “learn Christ” (Ephesians 4:20); not just to learn 'about Him', but to learn 'Him', that is, to know Him as one's Lord, Savior and Life.

Jesus said, “Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:29,30)

Jesus invites us to know Him by taking His yoke upon us. This means that we entrust ourselves to Him by faith. A yoke is designed to make it easy for an animal to pull a plough. The yoke harnesses the power necessary to accomplish the task. The power is usually provided by two work animals that share the same nature joined together. Jesus enables us to harness the power of His resurrection life and share His nature through the power of the Holy Spirit that we might walk in tandem with Him and accomplish His will.

At New Life Community Church we are excited about learning Christ and following Him as His disciples. We recognize that Jesus called his disciples to make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20).

So our mission is to help all kinds of people to say ‘yes’ to God and become disciple-making missionaries in the community of His church.

We offer a Discipleship course that helps every Christian learn the basic disciplines of the Christian life to the degree that they become healthy habits in their lives.
