Discipleship

Discipleship at New Life Community Church

The word discipleship comes from the Latin discipulus (pupil) and discere (to learn). A disciple is someone who sets out to learn Christ, not just to learn about Him, but to know Him—to experience Him as Lord, Savior, and Life.

Jesus’ Invitation to Learn of Him

In Matthew 11:29-30, Jesus invites us:
Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

By taking His yoke upon us, we trust in Him by faith. A yoke harnesses power to accomplish a task, and with Jesus, we harness the power of His resurrection life and share in His nature through the Holy Spirit. This enables us to walk in tandem with Him, accomplishing His will.

Our Mission: To Make Disciples Who Make Disciples

At New Life Community Church, we are excited to learn Christ and follow Him as His disciples. We recognize that Jesus called His disciples to make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20), and we take this command seriously.

Our mission is to help people say “Yes” to God and become disciple-making missionaries in the community of His church.
